Shrimps wrapped with Serrano ham makes for a succulent full
protein tapa that along some vegetable tapas and fresh bread will make an
awesome tapas dinner. This tapa can be
cooked in the oven so you can be preparing other things while this roasts.
Here´s what you´ll need:
MATERIALS
- Bowl to marinate the shrimp
- Ovenproof tray
- Serving tray
- Toothpicks to secure ham and shrimp together
INGREDIENTS
- 10 big raw shrimp (for example tiger shrimp)
- 5 slices of Serrano ham or prosciutto
- ½ cup of Olive oil
- Juice of ½ lemon (optional)
- 2 tbsps. of Soy sauce
- 1 tbsp. of Spicy crushed red pepper flakes
- Greens (such as arugula) for serving purposes
HOW TO PREPARE IT
1. Peel and clean the shrimp
2. Mix the ingredients for the marinade in a bowl, including
the oil, soy sauce, lemon, and crushed pepper.
3. Add the shrimp to the marinade and let it soak for about 30
min to 1 hour.
4. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit
5. Remove each shrimp from the marinade, cut a slice of Serrano
ham in half and wrap the shrimp with it.
Secure it with a toothpick.
6. Assemble shrimp on a tray and introduce in hot oven for
about 5 min. Then turn them and bake for
3-5 more minutes. Make sure the shrimp
don´t overcook or they´ll become dry and hardened.
(Another way of cooking this is to grill the shrimp on the
stove. Cook for about 2-3 min on each
side for a crunchier Serrano and a just right cooked shrimp)
7. When ready to serve, assemble them over a bed of greens on a
serving plate while they´re still warm.
Enjoy!
