Garlic shrimp is a very easy tapa to prepare. In Spain it is normally served in a small clay plate floating in its garlicky oil and accompanied by bread. Some restaurants serve it spicy and others don’t. I personally like it with a bit of a kick and I always add some crushed red pepper. In Spain I get small sundried cayenne peppers that have the same effect and look prettier on the plate.
Here’s what you will need:
MATERIALS:
-
Pot
-
Bowl to serve
INGREDIENTS:
-
1 lb of shrimp (uncooked and with shells)
-
5 cloves of garlic
-
Salt
-
Virgin olive oil
-
Crushed red pepper
I usually buy the shrimp frozen and with the
shells because I find them to be more flavorful than the peeled ones. However I
always peel them before cooking. This is a dish that is served with peeled
shrimp.
HOW TO PREPARE IT:
1.
Defrost and peel the shrimp.
2.
Add salt to taste.
4.
Preheat olive oil in the pan and add garlic
followed by the shrimp. Keep the stove
in slow so the garlic doesn’t burn and the shrimp take all the flavor.
6.
Let it simmer for about 10 min and turn off the
stove.
